Gabriela is an old black coal mine, now cultural heritage site, near my hometown. Established in 1854 and closed in 2004, but the last coal cart was taken out of the mine in the beginning of 1990´s. Most of the objects on surface were demolished in 00´s, the only left are two shaft towers and engine house. On January 16, 1856, mine gases exploded, killing 17 people. In 1902, a mining accident occurred, in which 7 miners died. On April 11, 1924, a fire broke out in the mine, which was extinguished by closing the affected area. The next day, however, there was an explosion that killed 15 miners who were working to strengthen the dikes against the fire. On April 13, another explosion occurred, reaching to the surface and destroying one of the shaft towers.
